The organisation ST-EP –
Sustainable Tourism Eliminating Poverty
was founded by the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in
2005, promoting poverty elimination through sustainable
tourism development. Spirit of the Masai Mara follows the 7
ST-EP mechanism to channel the socio-economic benefits of tourism.
A responsible and sustainable approach to tourism is key element in the ethos of Spirit of the Masai Mara. We proudly support
community projects in the local area focusing on education, employment and livelihoods.
Spirit of the Masai Mara recently coordinated funding to build classrooms at the Sekenani Secondary School, which was opened by the local Member of Parliament in April. We are currently raising funds to construct the next phase of dormitories and we encourage our guests to visit the local community as part of our 7 ST-EP programme.
